This year's game is called "Lunacy". Simulating driving on the moon, it is played on a 54' x 27' low friction field. Robots are equipped with slippery wheels and payload trailers, where players on the side lines or opposing robots in the field aim to throw "Orbit Balls". The “Orbit Balls” are
designated as Moon Rocks, Empty Cells, or Super Cells: Moon Rocks and Empty Cells are worth 2 points; Super Cells are worth 15 points. Super Cells become 'activated' when Empty Cells are delivered from their outpost to their fueling station, but may only be used during the last 20 seconds of the game. Each round of the game consists of two three-team robot alliances competing to score the most points, by shooting into the opposing alliance's trailers. Robots are autonomous, or work without a 'driver', during the first 15 seconds of play, and are teleoperated, or are controlled by a 'driver', for the remaining 2 minutes.
